Ibis Team

WHAT IS TEAM IBIS?

Team IBIS is the new initiative of EUROAVIA Forlì-Bologna. It is dedicated to the design and construction of fixed-wing drones, promoting the sharing of knowledge among members and the application of university subjects. Our primary goal is to create a drone that complies with the regulations of the AIR CARGO CHALLENGE, gain technical experience, and build credibility as a team.

With time and the support of sponsors and our university, Team IBIS will grow and become competitive. Our long-term goal is to win the 2026 edition of the AIR CARGO CHALLENGE.

Team IBIS will start as a small group of 10 founders; after an initial organizational phase, the team may be divided into departments, each with its own coordinator. Once we have built a base of competent people, they will be able to pass on their skills to newcomers, turning beginners into experts.

Our mission is to stimulate creativity, refine technical skills, and ensure that our collective experience is passed on to the next generation of EUROAVIAns.

Initially, Team IBIS will be in Italian, but this may change.

WHAT CAN I DO WITHIN THE TEAM?

You can join now and become one of the 10 founders, or wait until the first phase is completed and join as a member.

If your application is accepted, your work will be the foundation of the team: deciding the most functional structure for the Team, setting guidelines for our drone project, and outlining our path to success. You will also be encouraged to share your skills with others.

Your tasks will focus solely on the technical aspect of the Team; marketing, legal matters, and networking with companies will be managed by EUROAVIA Forlì-Bologna.

Keep in mind that joining as a founder does not mean you will automatically become a coordinator at the end of the first phase. The coordinators will be elected among the founders and members later on. You can apply for any coordinator role, but you are not obligated to do so (contributing to Team Ibis now does not impact your future role).

From mid-January, online meetings will begin to work on the above-mentioned objectives (planning and structuring). The weekly commitment will be around 3-4 hours (1-2 hours for meetings and the rest for independent work).

You will not be alone: in addition to the other founders, you will be supervised by the Local Board of EUROAVIA Forlì-Bologna; at the beginning, the Local Board members will also moderate Team IBIS meetings.

Apply only if you are willing to commit: inactivity means expulsion from the Team. If you are not ready for a long-term commitment, you can be part of the Team for as long as you want and leave at any time.

EUROAVIA Forlì-Bologna will deploy all its resources to launch Team Ibis. The connections already established with teachers, companies, and local authorities will accelerate the growth of the team.

HOW DO I APPLY TO PARTICIPATE ?

The first round of applications is currently open: if you apply now and get selected, you will become part of Team IBIS as one of the 10 founders.

The only requirement is to be a member of EUROAVIA Forlì-Bologna.

For your application, we ask you to write a motivation letter, which should include:

  • Your full name and contact details;
  • Your skills (e.g., Finite Elements Modelling, CFD, Team work, etc.);
  • Your interests;
  • How you wish to contribute to the Team;
  • If you have completed or started any relevant projects (e.g., CAD drawings, hand-built aircraft models, etc.), please attach photos, files, or other materials showcasing your work if possible.

Additionally, you will need to provide an updated copy of your Curriculum Vitae in PDF or Word format.

Non-formal education is not required: self-taught skills are more than welcome.

A top-tier resume is not required either—show your passion and enthusiasm!

To apply, fill out the form by clicking the button below: “Apply Now”. The Executive Board will evaluate your application, and you will be contacted personally afterward to learn the outcome.

You will be assessed based on your experience level and availability to work.

If you are not selected as a founder in the first application round, you are still encouraged to apply again when the second round opens (the requirements will be stricter, and you will join as a member).
